A REALTOR® is a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION of REALTORS® and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics.
The Code establishes time-honored and baseline principles that come from the collective experiences of REALTORS® since the Code of Ethics was first established in 1913. Those principles can be loosely defined as:
Loyalty to clients;
Fiduciary (legal) duty to clients;
Cooperation with competitors;
Truthfulness in statements and advertising; and non-interference in exclusive relationships that other REALTORS® have with their clients.
ABR: Accredited Buyer's Representative. This designation promotes superior buyer representation skills and services through comprehensive education and ethics training.
CRS: Certified Residential Specialist. The CRS Designation is only awarded to those realtors who have completed advanced courses and have demonstrated professional expertise in the field of residential real estate. The Council of Residential Specialists is the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors. As the real estate markets change, so too has the duties of the real estate broker. CRS Agentsupdate their skills by continuing education on a yearly basis.
